Learn and grow from loss
Women’s lives are ever-changing landscapes. Physical and emotional twists and turns impact us, and we face losses both large and small: losing our sense of self, losing our youth, as well as losing loved ones. Yet what’s gained through a woman’s experience provides powerful wisdom.
Join us for a 4-week journal and discussion experience and discover the wisdom you’ve gained through the various losses in life.
Each week includes:
Guided, centering exercises
Thought-provoking prompts & questions
Free write time to personally connect with the topic
Facilitated discussions on your discoveries, “ah-ha” moments, and wisdom nuggets found through your reflection
Skills and techniques useful for your ongoing journal practice
“Launch” prompts to explore between sessions
Sharing your discoveries within a safe community provides clarity, inspiration, and wisdom. We maintain strict confidentiality. You will not be asked to share directly from journals. Discussion questions focus on the experience or learnings derived from them.
Loss is a great teacher to our heart and soul. Give yourself the gift of exploring its wisdom and the lessons gained from that exploration.
No experience necessary. It’s courage and openness, not skill, that stirs our creative juices.

Katie O’Connell
Katie writes from the heart. A former writing teacher, Katie enjoys supporting others in their writing process through her business, Heartwired Writing. A lover of all things creative, she’s discovered the healing power of artistic expression and its ability to help us learn more about ourselves. Katie’s essays appear in several editions of the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series, as well as online publications such as Scary Mommy and Patheos.
Marcia Hanlon, LCSW
Marcia has been a listener for hundreds of people's stories through psychotherapy sessions over 20+ years. As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), most of her clients have been college students, but she has worked with people aged 17 to 70. Creative expression through writing has been a personal passion as well as a tool for personal growth with clients. Marcia began her professional life in journalism, primarily with the Chicago Tribune, before attending graduate school for social work; therefore, her focus in writing is on gaining clarity and greater understanding.
